Strengthening Digestion with Yoga and Ayurveda:

This article focuses on our digestion and the ayurvedic wisdom of food and individual constitution (made up of Pitta, Vata and/or Kapha). The author touches on "where and how we eat", "how often should we eat", "how much should we eat" and "what we eat". What we eat affects not only our digestion but also our state of mind and emotions. Meat makes the mind dull and heavy while fresh foods contain more energy than overcooked, stale or processed foods. The author also suggests some yoga asanas (poses) for aiding the digestive system – such as the Bow, the Thunderbolt, the Reclining Thunderbolt and the Wind-Relieving Pose – and some spices like cumin and ginger to increase digestive power.
